In 2020, I decided to take time off to discover new perspectives. I wanted to learn how I could live my life more truthfully and quit my job in Denmark. This decision was a leap of faith and I was aware that the period ahead would be difficult. This proved to be right, in the period that followed I felt lost and confused. Luckily, only to discover that this was the prerequisite to find myself.

As the themes that I address are hardly unique, I decided to write down some of my experiences in June 2021.

My journey started in the spring of 2020 when I was on the verge of moving to New York City for my employer at the time. Half a year earlier I had visited our US office and enjoyed the full New York experience, with dinners in fancy restaurants, drinks across town and the obligatory Yankees game. When the opportunity to move came up, I couldn’t be more excited. Living in Manhattan, earning a six-figure income, this is what I had always wanted I thought.
